Located on the far eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea, Lebanon is a vibrant coastal nation with a winemaking tradition that spans more than five millennia. Beginning in ancient times, seafaring Phoenicians traded large volumes of Lebanese wines with Egypt in exchange for gold and other treasures. Throughout the ages, the Lebanese winemaking community has endured numerous setbacks and achieved remarkable breakthroughs which have made their current renaissance possible. Today, Lebanon’s more than 30 wineries produce a variety of unique wines made from the classic grapes of southern France, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, and more. Many of these stunning estates also craft traditional Lebanese arak, an anise-flavored spirit that remains the nation’s most popular alcoholic beverage. Misa Imports is proud to offer a range of wines and spirits from two of this storied land's premier wineries, Château Ksara and IXSIR.
