Senior Cost Accountant

We are looking for an enthusiastic result driven Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing organization. We need someone to challenge the status quo and bring creative solutions. As the Senior Cost Accountant, you will perform a variety of functions and will have exposure to many aspects of accounting within our organization. This position offers excellent growth potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform month end close of General Ledger related to Cost Accounting
  • Receive Inventory into the accounting system
  • Code and Enter Supplier and Freight Accounts Payable Invoices in accounting system
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of CGS related balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare various analyses related to importation and costs
  • Prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual importation costs
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
  • Develop and maintain standard costs of imported goods and COGS components in an ERP system
  • Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with importation costs and inventory valuation
  • Lead and manage the quarterly excess and obsolete inventory review process
  • Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control and work order processing
  • Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls
  • Conduct physical inventories and monitor cycle count program
  • Perform and report inventory cost analyses
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to foreign exchange, cash management and tax (including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities)
  • Complete adjustments and chargebacks to revalue inventory
  • Perform layer change to average cost when applicable
  • Support and assist junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills
  • Write Manual Checks
  • Record Revenues and Expenses for multiple entities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of accounting experience; preference for cost accounting
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and highly confident in stating professional opinions
  • Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting and general accounting concepts
  • Extremely strong Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes
