While the pandemics and its recent impact on MISA grabbed our focus for the past weeks, the unfortunate events that unfolded over the past month have not only shocked us but we, as many of you, have, watched in horror, disbelieve and disappointment. The tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, George Floyd, Tony McDade, and Breonna Taylor has reverberated throughout the world, sparking protests and a heightened awareness that it is not enough for us to simply be against racism. These tragedies bring to the forefront the fears and injustices the African Americans and all-American minorities have faced every day for generations.
As a human, I want to express my outrage and sadness for those who have been hurt and killed by the legacy of racism in the US and around the world. I am heartbroken by the fact that we continue to have unresolved equality for minorities within our Justice System and other systems that feed inequities. This is a critical time for us all to confront racism and inequality by speaking up and standing together. Systemic racism in our country will not be solved overnight. Our collective will and determination to be better, I believe, will yield us the solution.
MISA was founded on connecting people from all parts of the world through products that bring happiness and joy to all humans. MISA is anchored by its diverse and inclusive culture and holds true to its values of Respect, Integrity, and Passion. We are deeply committed to furthering opportunities for all minorities and to creating an unparalleled platform for prosperity for all by listening, learning and, most importantly, taking meaningful actions.
Quoting Nelson Mandela “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite”.
Sincerely,
Oubada S. Duwaji

“The idea of everyone being truly equal was granted when we were all born. To attain equality, like racial equality, gender equality, or equality of opportunity between rich and poor should not be a fight, it should a basic human right. Enough is Enough. Lets stand United and make this world a better place and enjoy each others diversity. We are all born with a spirit and a body and will die with nothing, lets enjoy our earthly journey together.
Our deeds will speak louder than words.”
